Last year we moved from a town where, in most cases, shopping locally involved driving a half hour or more past the gauntlet of big box stores. It was part of the reason we moved, though even when we did move here we had no idea of the extent of the options for supporting the local economy. On this blog, we’re going to highlight some of the retailers, artists and other creative forums in the Hudson Valley, Berkshires and Northwestern Connecticut.
The Bodhi Tree, in Sharon, Connecticut, showcases a wide variety of work by artists throughout the area. They carry pottery, housewares, jewelry, clothing, kids’ toys and much more. They also sponsor events and classes for adults and children, from jewelry-making to how to make a kaleidoscope . They also host the occasional receptions for their artists and have become a local hub of creative activity.
