As I’ve mentioned before, I’ve been trying to do a number of different things lately. I’m working on some more chapbooks, which are pretty fun to do, especially after figuring out the process of getting it from my head to the pages.
I’ve also been making hardbound books. The original idea was to make journals for myself and the kids. I go through one (I’ve been using the Moleskine knockoff Pentalic notebooks for years) every few months. I try to personalize the covers with pictures I’ve taken of the kids or the animals around here. But I’m not crazy about the paper, so it finally dawned on me to make my own.
I haven’t yet come up with the perfect formula. I’m still working on the binding. This is an example of a book I put together this week, a sort of trial. I haven’t put the portfolio in yet, and this one is too small. I’ll probably give it to the kids. But it’s a start.
