As predictions of the demise of the book become more ominous, the responses of those who love books become more creative. Expressing themselves through poetry, prose and innovative uses of materials, artists and writers are expanding the idea of what a book can be and how we interact with it.

In Rosendale, New York, Women’s Studio Workshop serves as a hub of activity, offering classes in all sorts of book arts, including letterpress printing and papermaking. They also publish and sell books created by their artists.
